Links Relating to Senior Citizens, their Health & Mobility
 

        The Kris Kelly Health Information Center, located in the Humboldt County Library, is a wonderful source of information.  The site includes "Selected Internet Links" relating to a wide variety of health concerns.

        The monthly Senior News--published by the Humboldt Senior Resource Center in Eureka--has many great articles and loads of information.  Much of it is "on-line" here, and the past year's back issues are available here, too.

          The Humboldt Senior Resource Center has a remarkable offering of services, activities, and classes.  There are links to other sites here, too.

        The Humboldt County Information Network has extensive information regarding local services, much of which is geared for seniors.  Click on the list of local non-profit organizations, and you can scroll down through a huge list of local agencies with their addresses and phone numbers, and some internet links.

        Humguide.com has a great deal of material relating to "sites and services on the Redwood Coast."

        Elderweb.com has a huge variety of information for seniors, families, caregivers, and healthcare and social service providers regarding health, finances, housing, and many other issues.  You can click to your local geographical area for more specific information.

          Seniors-site.com is a real smorgasbord--everything from information on nursing homes to long lists of jokes specific to seniors.

        "SeniorNet's mission is to provide older adults education for and access to computer technology to enhance their lives and enable them to share their
knowledge and wisdom."

        "Elderhostel is a nonprofit organization providing educational adventures all over the world to adults aged 55 and over.  Elderhostel is for people on the move who believe learning is a lifelong process."

        Being involved in the community can be very healthy and energizing.  Senior Corps has information on the Foster Grandparent program, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Senior Companion Program, and much more.

        In Humboldt County, California, the Volunteer Center of the Redwoods has information about the RSVP and many other programs.

        Here's the official site of the Social Security Administration.  Their "Other Sites" section has links to many other government agencies.

        The US Administration on Aging also has a huge website, with lots of information.

          The United Seniors Health Cooperative has some information on health insurance and also a page with links to many large national agencies involved in various health, financial, and other concerns affecting seniors.

        The American Health Care Association (AHCA) is a national organization that represents nursing homes, board and care homes, and other assisted living facilities.  There is a huge amount of information here regarding long term care, and they list many other relevant "sites of interest."

        "The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) represents not-for-profit organizations dedicated to providing high-quality health care, housing and services to the nation's elderly."  This is another large website with much information relating to long term care.
